Are you a School Leaver? Sixth Form Choices are an alternative option to full time school education offering a Vocational qualification, Work experience, English and maths if required.
When will I attend?
Years 12-13: You will attend Achievement Training for two days a week and one day a week in a placement. No training takes place during half term and holidays. The day starts at 9.00am and ends at 4.00pm. There are breaks in the morning and afternoons and one hour for lunch.
Employers look for evidence of work experience, they are more likely to employ those with work experience over those without. Work experience allows students to apply what they have learnt in their studies to real work environments.
Will I need to wear special clothes?
For classroom sessions your smart casual clothing is acceptable unless you are working in Beauty Therapy, Health and Social Care, Animal Care or Childcare where a uniform is provided. Your work placement may wish you wear a uniform or special protective clothing. If necessary, this will be supplied.
What comes next?
Progression onto higher level qualifications or you can apply for an apprenticeship. These programmes address the need to prepare young people for employment, developing skills ready for them to thrive in the workplace.
Sixth form choices are available in a range of subjects, from Level 1, 2 and Level 3 starting annually – over the academic year.
