What you'll Learn
This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment). It comprises 3 mandatory units, including:
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment Assess occupational competence in the work environment
- Assess vocational skills, knowledge
- Understanding Entry Requirements
You are vocationally competent in the sector you wish to assess, holding a recognised qualification at Level 3 and have up-to-date workplace knowledge. You also need to be working or volunteering within an educational environment and have access to two learners who you need to assess using a range of methods. It may be possible to support learners with access to a suitable placement and mentor.
What to expect
The course comprises of 6 underpinning knowledge tutorials at Achievement Training’s City Centre location, as well as one-to-one support sessions which are scheduled individually by appointment. Trainee assessors need to be flexible and free to meet with their learners whenever they are in their placement. You will receive a login to an on-line portfolio account, which can be accessed from any Wifi point at work at home or in our centre or through 3/4G. You will be provided with a detailed course programme. At centre you will have the opportunity to network with other learners and to share practice and you will have access to a variety of resources to support your learning including laptops, desktops, tablets and textbooks.
These qualifications can help you to progress into employment as an assessor of vocational achievement in a range of settings in the Lifelong Learning Sector, which include:
