What you'll learn
This qualification is for anyone working in animal care, it will suit those who are just starting out as well as those with plenty of experience. Animal health and welfare is a priority for all of the industry, this course will provide a practical entry route that encourages you to develop your skills and knowledge in areas that interest you. To achieve this qualification, you will complete a range of units, which may include some of the following:
• Control and restrain animals
• Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment
• Provide opportunities for animals to have freedom to exercise
• Prepare and groom animals
• Prepare feed for animals
If you’re looking to advance in your career by combining learning with on-the-job experience.
This course will prepare you for progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care, moving onto the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management.
What to expect
Within our Animal Care centre we have a wide range of small animals to support your practical learning. For each unit your assessor observes and asks questions as you perform different tasks, creating a portfolio of formal evidence.
This qualification provides a solid base for additional training and will support you to
move from a junior role to a senior role.
A certificate or diploma in Animal Care is designed to help you find work in:
• Pet Store assistant
• Welfare charity sector
