What you'll Learn
You will learn the Certificate in Practical Animal Care Skills Level 3 before moving onto the Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management Level 3 during the second half on the duration. You will gain an in-depth insight into the techniques and science of animal management. Topics covered are; animal biology, animal husbandry and animal nutrition. You will gain practical experience, from wildlife surveys to animal training.
- Manage animal accommodation
- Animal anatomy and physiology
- Understand and interpret animal behaviour and communication
- Understand and promote animal health
- Plan and monitor animal feeding
- Understand the principles of animal biology
You have some experience in Animal Care or have previously gained a Level 2 qualification and want to develop your skills to be a senior employee or manager. This course will prepare you for higher-level training.
A placement within the animal care sector is required.
What to expect
Within our Animal Care centre we have a wide range of small animals to support your practical learning. For each unit your assessor observes and asks questions as you perform different tasks, creating a portfolio of formal evidence.
A work placement within the animal care sector is required for this course.
The Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management Level 3 is designed to help you find work within the animal care sector and prepare you for Higher Education, these qualifications attract UCAS points.
