What you'll Learn
This qualification is for anyone who would like to work in animal care. The programme will suit those who are just starting out as well as those with some experience.
Animal health and welfare is a priority for all of the industry, the Diploma in Animal Care provides a practical progression route that encourages you to develop your skills and knowledge in subject areas that interest you.
To achieve this qualification you will complete a range of topics, which will include:
- Diseases and disorders
- Feeding and nutrition
- Animal Biology
- Maintaining accommodation
- Research into animal care job opportunities
You have some knowledge and you want to increase your practical competence and understanding within this sector. You may also be looking for a qualification to prepare you for progression to the Level 3 qualifications. A placement within the animal care sector is required.
What to expect
Within our Animal Care centre we have a wide range of small animals to support your practical learning. For each unit your assessor observes and asks questions as you perform different tasks, creating a portfolio of formal evidence.
The diploma in Animal Care is designed to help you find work with animals. Achieving this course will help you to move from a junior role to a job with greater responsibility. Further progression onto Level 3 options are also available.

Age 16- 18 = Funded by the Department for Education
Fully Funded = £0.00 (for eligible students)
Reduced Fees / Co-Funded = £550.00 (for eligible students)
Advanced Learner Loan = Not applicable to this course
