This introductory course will cover animal welfare, animal biology and animal behaviour. This qualification is for anyone who would like to work in animal care.
This level 2 course is ideal if you are new to animal care or have some knowledge and basic skills. You want to develop your skills, perhaps to start work in a pet shop, animal shelter or kennel or prepare for further training.
The programme will suit those who are just starting out as well as those with some experience. This qualification has been specifically designed to develop the knowledge and skills to prepare you for employment within an Animal Care setting. The programme covers a wide range of skills, including:
- Maintain Animal Health and Welfare
- Undertake Practical Animal Feeding
- Maintain Animal Accommodation
- Understand the Basic Principles of Animal Biology
- Introduction to the Principles
- Practices of Animal Behaviour and Handling.
A certificate or diploma in Animal Care or Animal Management is designed to help you find work with animals such as;
- Kennel/cattery worker
- Pet Store assistant
- Welfare charity worker and many many more.
Once you’ve completed the Level 2 qualification you can move on to Level 3.
The course is delivered every Friday.
A class will start in January 12th 2024 which will run up to – April 26th 2024 (12 weeks)
and then again from May 3rd 2024 which will run up to July 26th 2024
Start time 0930 / finishing at 1530
- a school leaver
- are 19-23 and do not already have a level 2 qualification
- are 24+ and unemployed or earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023)
