This introductory course will cover animal welfare, animal biology and animal behaviour. This qualification is for anyone who would like to work in animal care.

The programme will suit those who are just starting out as well as those with some experience. This qualification has been specifically designed to develop the knowledge and skills to prepare you for employment within an Animal Care setting. The programme covers a wide range of skills, including:  Maintain Animal Health and Welfare | Undertake Practical Animal Feeding  | Maintain Animal Accommodation  | Understand the Basic Principles of Animal Biology  |  Introduction to the Principles and Practices of Animal Behaviour and Handling | Contribute to the Nursing of Animals | Understand the Principles and Practices of Animal Establishments  | Introduction to Grooming Dogs  | Introduction to Animal Breeds and Grooming | Introduction to Caring for Horses | Introduction to Caring for Zoo Animals | Presentation and Service for Retailing in the Land-based Sector Environmental and Land-based Business | Understand British Wildlife Species, Habitats and Rehabilitation | Introduction to Caring for Farm Livestock | Introduction to Caring for Ornamental Aquatics | Participate in Providing Estate Maintenance | Contribute to the Care of Exotic Animals

Entry Requirements

Students will be invited to attend an informal interview which will support your application,  ideally, you should aim to have English, maths and a science at grade 4 or above.

Funding is available depending on your circumstances.
