What you'll Learn

Level 2 is ideal for those looking to work as, or starting out as, a systems analyst, system support technician, web designer or software developer. This qualification provides progression if you want to develop your skills and understanding of ICT and want to choose ICT as a career.

You will use digital technology progressing from being digital literate to applications specialist at Level 3. You will learn how to assemble PC’s and Laptops, understanding what role each component part plays in the configuration of a computer as well as software installation, diagnostics, fault finding and testing.

This qualification comprises two mandatory units and a wide range of optional units selected to meet national occupational standards. Software installation and upgrade Testing ICT systems Working with ICT Hardware and equipment Develop own effectiveness and professionalism Customer Care in ICT Health and safety in ICT.

Ideal If

You want a good, solid foundation to start a career in ICT to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to work in this field. This course is aimed at people wanting to start in the professional ICT sector with opportunities as 1st and 2nd line support technician jobs.

What to expect

The delivery will be done mainly at the workplace, with the off-the-job training accounting for at least 20% of your employed time. You will receive a login to an online portfolio. The assessor will regularly visit you at work to observe you performing relevant tasks and to carry out professional discussions.

Your understanding of theory will be tested by the completion of online tests.

Level 2 English, Maths and ICT will need to be completed prior to completion, if not already achieved at GCSE grade C / level 4 or above.

What next

For those looking to follow a career in ICT, this qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of ICT roles such as 1st and 2nd line support with the opportunity for progressing onto the Level 3 qualification.
