Level 2 Technical Certificate in working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings – Award for Support in Schools (PT)
(T1/2) This course covers a range of knowledge, understanding and skills needed to care for and educate children aged between 0 and 11 years old, designed to support progress onto a number of sectors, including the early years educator, the supporting teaching and learning, and the children and young people. It also contains significant transferable knowledge for the health and social care sector.
(T3) Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges; You will gain knowledge and skills required for working directly with children or young people in a range of schools including primary, secondary and special needs, supporting the teaching and learning of pupils who are aged 5 years or older.
The technical Certificate requires work experience in an early years or school setting. On completion, you will then move on to the Award in Support Work in School.
This programme will give you the knowledge and experience for a variety of roles and responsibilities for working in a school or college setting – you will be able to progress into employment or further learning at level 3 accessing courses in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years or Health and Social Care. Progression also includes further education and higher education or you can apply for an apprenticeship. These programmes address the need to prepare young people for employment, developing skills enabling you to thrive in the workplace.
The day starts at 9.00am and ends at 4.00pm. There are breaks in the morning, afternoon, and one hour for lunch. No attendance is required during half term and holidays. Breaks are for one hour, which can vary, starting from 11:30am. Learners are allowed off-site for lunch, we have basic catering facilities such as fridges & microwaves, if you wish to bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, we are surrounded by a great selection of cafés and restaurant’s all within walking distance.
This qualification allows progression onto Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other Level 3 qualifications relating to Childcare, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning.It is designed as an entry to employment at level 2 and will support progression into a range of job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors.
Your tutor will support you throughout the course. You will be provided with a detailed course programme and will receive a login to an on-line portfolio. At the centre you will have the opportunity to network with other learners and to share practice and access to different resources to support your learning including laptops, desktops, tablets and textbooks
You are interested in starting a career in Childcare and want to work in a
sector with multiply ranges of employment opportunities locally as well as internationally. You want a good solid foundation for starting a career supporting teaching and learning in a school. It will help you to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to work in this sector. This course is aimed at people who have little to no experience of working in a classroom environment.
