Vacancy description:

A varied role that incorporates Customer Service and IT Skills:

  • Providing support to clients by phone, email and face to face
  • Performing routine systems tasks
  • Correcting problems
  • Researching solutions
  • Delivery of and installation of IT equipment to local companies

Training to be provided:

You will receive specific on the job training from the employer in your work place. Off the job training will be provided by Achievement Training in the following areas:

  • Level 3 IT Application Specialist Framework
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT Level 1 - if required

Skills required: 

  • Clear telephone manner
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Time management is important
  • An understanding of confidentiality and data protection standards
  • Logical, creative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communicator and presentable - as you will be dealing with clients on a day-to-day basis on the phone and later on face-to-face
  • Clean and tidy appearance
  • Friendly and helpful
  • Trustworthy and reliable - as you will be working in the home office and remotely
  • A good problem solver
  • Enjoy a technical challenge and be prepared to undertake research
  • Non-smoker (including E-Cigarettes)
  • Full Driving License (essential) and ideally access to own transport

Technical specifications - Required:

  • Technical experience of setting up and installing Windows 10 in a networked environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Hardware and Driver installation
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking

Technical specifications - Desirable experience of:

  • Configuring routers or other web based equipment
  • Experience in the configuration of wireless networks
  • Windows Server or Virtual Server environments
  • Some knowledge of VoIP Phone systems

Personal qualities:

  • Polite and friendly to both customers and colleagues
  • Trustworthy
  • A mature professional attitude
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Tidy appearance

Qualifications required:

  • Candidates must have good GCSE Grades A-C/9-4 in English and Maths
  • Previous experience or Level 2 qualification in IT

Future prospects:

Opportunities may be offered to the successful candidate on completion of the apprenticeship, as you will have built a good relationship with the team and knowledge of the role. Progression opportunities may also include advanced and higher apprenticeships, including which can equate to:

  • NVQ Level 4 equivalent - Higher Education Certificate/BTEC
  • NVW Level 5 equivalent - Higher Education Diploma/Foundation Degree
