Exciting opportunity for a confident and professional individual to provide administrative support with Polymer Industries, helping with the running of their administration.

Vacancy Description:

The role essentially combines general business administration along with acting as a PA to the MD and General Manager. The role will entail a wide range of tasks including the following:

  • Answering telephone calls, filtering calls and handling general enquiries
  • Responding to email enquiries or passing them on to the relevant colleague to handle
  • Placing orders with suppliers for consumable items etc
  • Carrying out research into markets, products, competitors, potential customers etc
  • Accurate input of data into spreadsheets
  • Raising paperwork such as despatch notes, advice notes, purchase orders, statements, packing lists, waste transfer notes etc
  • Inputting invoices onto Xero (a cloud-based online accounting system)
  • Making bank payments online
  • Inputting quality control data onto spreadsheets
  • Working with Sales team to record potential customer data and assist with marketing
  • Filing and maintaining accurate paperwork
  • Reconciliation – eg petty cash
  • Attend staff meetings, taking notes where required
  • General housekeeping tasks

Training to be provided:

You will receive specific on the job training from the employer in your work place. Off the job training will be provided by Achievement Training in the following areas:

  • QCF Diploma in Business and Administration Level 2
  • Certificate in Business Administration skills Level 2
  • Functional Skills in English and Mathematics and ICT Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Skills Required:

  • A good level of English, both in written and verbal communication
  • Confident level of maths, able to work with figures accurately
  • Good general IT skills, able to confidently use Microsoft Office package, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Ability to communicate confidently on the phone and in person with potential customers, suppliers, colleagues etc
  • Enthusiasm, good work-ethic,
  • Honest, reliable and punctual
  • Commitment and perseverance
  • Sense of humour and a “can do” attitude

  • Polite and friendly to both customers and colleagues

  • The ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of information

Qualifications Required:

Good general education to GCSE, or equivalent level

Future Prospects

Employment opportunities may be offered to the successful candidate on completion of the apprenticeship as you will have built a good relationship with the team and knowledge of the role.

Progression opportunities may also include advanced and higher apprenticeships, including which can equate to:

  • NVQ Level 3 equivalent – 2 A Levels
  • NVQ Level 4 equivalent – Higher Education Certificate/BTEC
  • NVQ Level 5 equivalent – Higher Education Diploma/Foundation

From April 2018 the National Minimum wage for apprentices rises to £3.70 per hour. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
